The work that I make is inspired by the plants that are around me or the ones I travel hundreds of miles to go see because they won’t grow well in my garden in Tucson, but I love them anyway. There isn’t a gardener that isn’t a hopeful person—they wouldn’t put the seed in the ground if they didn’t hope to see it turn into a plant. There is a deliberate action to put the seed into the soft ground and care for it with the intention that there is more beauty in life to come.
